![]() ![]() Check out our career page to see what we have open – we’d love for you to join us for this next chapter of ArangoDB. We are currently hiring throughout all of our departments, and most roles are fully remote. I would also like to thank our community and users for standing by us and for showing us so much love and support over the years (as noted by the nearly 12,000 stargazers on GitHub! BTW visit us on GitHub and let it be 12,000 today).Īnd last, but certainly not least, I want to mention that our avocado grove is growing. He will continue to oversee our product development efforts, and I’m pleased to be able to officially welcome him to the ArangoDB executive team.īefore I wrap up this post, I want to take a minute to thank the entire ArangoDB Grove for all the hard work and dedication throughout the years that have made this announcement possible. Jörg joined ArangoDB two years ago as our Head of Engineering and Machine Learning and has greatly helped guide our product and development strategy as we continue to expand our graph analytic and AI capabilities. Jörg is a frequent speaker at conferences and our own webinars and workshops. If you want to learn more about ArangoDB I encourage you to check out ArangoDB Dev Days, our first-ever developer conference taking place October 18th-22nd. ArangoDB is focused on being at the forefront of graph analytics and continuing to expand our knowledge and technologies especially in GraphML and AI capabilities. According to research by Gartner, by 2025, graph technologies will be used in most data and analytical innovations. What does this mean moving forward? ArangoDB is focused on continuing to be the most scalable, open-source graph database and expand our reach within the market. I am really happy to be working with them. With this round of funding, we also welcome two new board members: Curt Gunsenheimer, Managing Partner at Iris Capital, and former CEO and co-founder of Instana, Mirko Novakic, of New Forge, who also participated in this round of funding (you can read the press release for more details). Today, I am very excited to announce that we have closed a $27.8 million Series B round led by Iris Capital. ![]() We also introduced ArangoDB Oasis, our fully-hosted, managed, and monitored database service available on Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud. ![]() We expanded into Machine Learning with the introduction of ArangoML. Besides the huge improvements we added to ArangoDB, we released ArangoSearch, our natively-integrated full-text search and ranking engine for information retrieval in late 2018. I’m currently evaluating which NoSQL we could use in a new project and thought I’d document the considered options are and the relevant criteria here.įirst let’s see what a NoSQL database is at all.Over the years, ArangoDB has continued to grow from one line of code to the company that we are today and I am extremely proud. NoSQL doesn’t necessarily stand for “No SQL” but rather for “Not only SQL”. InterSystems IRIS is a complete cloud-first data platform that includes a multi-model transactional. So this means it’s a database which can be worked with without using SQL but it doesn’t mean that none of them actually supports an SQL syntax. Read user reviews of ArangoDB, MongoDB, and more. But the goal is of course not to get rid of SQL but rather to support use cases which are currently not well supported by classical relational database management system (e.g. So what are the main shortcomings of relational databases: Oracle, Sybase ASE, MS SQL Server, MySQL…). In a relational database, all entities stored in the database must be defined with a schema known in advance. InterSystems IRIS is a data platform setting a new level of performance for. The relationships between entities have to be modeled. Find out how ArangoDB stacks up against its competitors with real user. Whenever you need to be able to store new types of data or whenever you need to store additional attributes, you need to update your schema and make sure that existing data are made compatible to the new schema. So the effort to setup comes from the fact that to park a car in there, you need to disassemble the car to be able to store it in the garage. ![]() This means that the whole structure of the data stored in the database needs to be known in order to create a schema which is required in order to store data. The only way to be able to store different types of data not known in advance is to store them as BLOBs which makes it impossible to use any of the advantages of relational databases later on. ![]()
